My song choice for this week is a simple old fashion hymn that I LOVE. This song reminds me of my childhood and growing up in church. It is musically simple and RICH in words. It possesses a comfort and strength that will never grow old.

For the past five years I have had the privilege of being a Yonkers Idol judge. I have had the opportunity to meet and work with some extraordinarily talented young people. Now, I would like you to meet Sandy Korkatzis, co-founder of the Yonkers Idol Program.
I chose to interview my friend Sandy and talk about the Yonkers Idol Program for two reasons:
1) Sandy is such an inspiration to the program. Each year I have watched her pour her heart and soul into this program. And each year she somehow finds a way to make it better than the last.
2) The second reason is to show what can happen when time is invested and a child’s dreams and talents are nurtured.

American Idol, baseball, Boys and Girls Club, children's programs, GMA, Good Morning America, What About The Children, Yolanda Adams
The other day my Mom told me about this “Play of the Day” on Good Morning America. I immediately knew this was my post for this week. I was moved by the innocence in which the little boy returned the baseball to the field, because it is reflective of his young heart. The innocence of youth is such a precious and beautiful thing. So often in this world the innocence of youth dies far too soon. Instead of just letting them enjoy the days of jump ropes, dolls, backyard soccer games, or a great game of stick ball; they are rushed to relinquish childhood to become adults.
This is why programs like Yonkers Idol are so important to a community. They become the turning points and the catalyst in lives; bringing inspiration and hope. Stay tuned later this week to hear more about the Yonkers Idol Search Program.

The greatest helping hand I have ever received was from Jesus Christ when he died that I might live. And for this very reason I must PRAISE “That Name”

Keep dreaming and pursuing your dreams. Your moment in time may be just around the corner.
Then the Lord answered me and said:
“Write the vision
And make it plain on tablets,
That he may run who reads it.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it;
Because it will surely come,
It will not tarry.

A Raision In The Sun, black history, dream deferred, dreams, Langston Hughes, Philippians 4:13, poems, Proverbs 3:5-6
Don’t allow your dreams to be deferred for any reason. Take no thought to naysayers, your age, financial status or education that may be necessary to attain your goals. Remember “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” (Philippians 4:13). “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6). Know, trust and believe God can make a way out of no way.
As you saw in my recent vlog post with artist/designer Nicolette Williams she has found her passion and is pursuing her dream. Where are your dreams right now? Are they in the recesses of your mind or tucked away in a journal of your secret thoughts? I can tell you there, they will begin to stink like rotten meat. Instead, take a leap of faith. Step out and begin to experience the realization of your dreams. Your realization could very well bring hope and inspire someone else.

A gift can be defined as a special ability or capacity. To be able to turn a simple pair of sneakers into a fashion statement, I would define as a gift. This is exactly what artist Nicolette Williams does. Let’s hear her story.
I know Nicolette has a bright future in front of her and I pray her well as she continues to pursue her dreams. Now I ask you. Is your dream deferred or are you in the pursuit of happiness?
I would like to wish everyone a Happy Resurrection Sunday. Remember Jesus is the reason for every season.
