When you hear a story of someone in need do you think to yourself, why doesn’t someone help? You could be that someone. It doesn’t have to be a grand gesture; it could be an attentive ear or “An Encouraging Word”. Carly and Doug have made and found ways to lend “A Helping Hand” to many people; but that is their way. I challenge you to find a way of your own to help someone. A simple act of kindness can go a long way. Holding the door for the person coming behind you at the store; telling a co-worker how nice they look; smiling at a passerby; or telling the cashier at the supermarket to have a wonderful day, can go a long way.
We can sit wishing and hoping the world would change, but as my Uncle Joey taught us there are times we need to put feet to our prayers. The Bible defines the word love in I Corinthians 13. Part of that definition tells us that love is kind. If we remember to be kind one to another we would have already contributed to making a change in the world.
I think Michael Jackson said it best when he sang:
“I’m starting with the Man In The Mirror
I’m asking him to change his ways
And no message could have
Been any clearer
If you wanna make the world
A better place
Take a look at yourself and
Then make a change”
What does your “Man In The Mirror” reveal?
