In recent weeks I have been juggling a lot of stress. My aunt called to check on me and I had a tearful moment. She quickly reminded me that I am strong and to be strong. She encouraged me with God’s Words, her words and LOVE. When I hung up the phone I felt better. I had been encouraged.
Have you ever vented to a friend and in turn they unloaded on you? You were hoping for an encouraging word, but instead got an earful of lifelong baggage and negativity. In last week’s vlog featuring 16 year old Tanveen Dhallu “Making A Difference” I noted she is helping people in a BIG way and encouraged you to help someone even if it is in a small way. An encouraging word could help someone in a small or big way.
When someone comes to you with their life’s woes, don’t buy into it or add to it with your own. Remind them to keep the FAITH and that this too shall pass. Let them know one of the tricks of the devil is to make them believe they are the only one; that they are alone in their worries, pain, and hurt. Encourage them, and let them know this is not the truth and he is the father of all lies. Instead know God cannot lie. His Word tells us, “…weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning” Psalms 30:5. You want them to walk away from the conversation feeling encouraged and hopeful. This act of compassion and kindness will be remembered and go a long way. Remember this comes from the simple words Thumper’s father told him. “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say nothing at all.”
